Mumbai: In a shocking incident in Vikhroli East, two unidentified youths on a motorcycle snatched an iPhone from a young woman while she was shooting a reel video of her sister. The incident took place around 8:30 pm on May 1, near the Narayan Bodhe Bridge, when the 21-year-old victim and her younger sister had stepped out for an evening video shoot.
According to reports quoting the police, the sisters had walked from Paresh Parker Market in Tagore Nagar to a nearby service road to record a reel. During the shoot, the complainant had handed her Apple iPhone 13 to her younger sister, who was operating the camera. Suddenly, a young man, estimated to be between 20 and 23 years old, approached silently and snatched the phone from her hand before jumping onto a waiting black motorcycle ridden by his accomplice.
The duo immediately fled towards Mumbai via the northbound service road near Pravin Bogda. Startled and shaken, the victim contacted her father and then approached Vikhroli Police Station to file a formal complaint. An FIR was registered and the stolen iPhone 13 was estimated to be worth Rs 20,000, according to a Lokmat Times report.
Complainant Provides Detailed Info On Thieves
The complainant reportedly provided detailed descriptions of the suspects to the police. The person who snatched the phone was of dusky complexion, dressed in a white shirt with horizontal stripes and blue jeans. His accomplice, the motorcycle rider, was described as around 5 feet 7 inches tall, aged between 20 and 25 years, and dressed entirely in black. The victim stated she would be able to identify both individuals if she saw them again.
Vikhroli Police have registered a case against unknown persons under relevant sections and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to track down the accused. Efforts are underway to trace the motorcycle used in the crime and identify the suspects involved.
