Tensions ran high outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, May 3, after Royal Challengers Bengaluru edged out Chennai Super Kings by just two runs in one of IPL 2025’s most gripping contests. A video that has since gone viral on social media shows a heated altercation between a CSK fan and two RCB supporters, turning what was a night of cricketing celebration into a flashpoint for fan rivalry.
The CSK fan, holding a poster of MS Dhoni celebrating last year’s IPL 2023 title, got into a war of words with the RCB fans moments after the match concluded. While the exact cause of the argument remains unclear, both sides appeared to be trading blame over verbal taunts and perceived disrespect. The shouting match escalated quickly, prompting police officers on the scene to step in and separate the group before the situation worsened.
This is not the first time that clash between this supporters have taken place. In the last season’s IPL, a video went viral on social media from the day of the Eliminator match when a man wearing a RCB jersey can be seen beating up a group of people, with one of them wearing a CSK jersey.
RCB register hard fought win over CSK
RCB’s hard-fought win, which saw them defend a massive 213-run target. The win was powered by standout performances from Virat Kohli (62 off 33), Jacob Bethell (55 off 33), and a game-changing 53 not out off just 14 balls from Romario Shepherd—an innings that included six towering sixes and four boundaries. Shepherd’s late blitz proved crucial, especially after he smashed 33 runs in a single over off Khaleel Ahmed, helping RCB post a commanding 213/5.
In response, 17-year-old sensation Ayush Mhatre nearly pulled off a stunning chase for CSK. His 94 off 48 balls, laced with elegant strokeplay and raw power, kept Chennai alive till the very end. Partnered by Ravindra Jadeja (77* off 45), the duo stitched a formidable 114-run stand. But despite their efforts, CSK fell agonizingly short, finishing at 211/5.
