Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After prime accused Farhan Khan suffered a bullet injury in the leg during an escape bid late Friday night, the other accused in the high-profile rape and blackmailing case are petrified. Farhan, Sahil Khan and Nabeel are in custody of Ashoka Garden police for questioning in the case.

While Farhan is now under treatment, Sahil and Nabeel are being questioned by police regarding their roles in the racket. Police sources said that the duo was in shock after receiving information about Farhan.

They said Sahil and Nabeel were not speaking much and barely ate the food that was given to them in custody. During questioning, they regretted their acts while blaming Farhan for involving them in the rape and blackmailing racket.

To note, Farhan’s close aide Ali had broken his leg while attempting to flee when cops surrounded him at his hideout in Ashoka Garden some days back.

DCP Zone-2 Priyanka Shukla said Farhan and one Abrar lived in Bilkisganj for some time and it was suspected that Abrar may have been hiding there. A police team under TI Ashoka Garden police station Hemant Srivastava was sent to Bilkisganj with Farhan.

However, Farhan requested to relieve himself when the team was near Sawar village at Ratibadh. Assistant sub inspector Vijay Bhamne was escorting Farhan when he suddenly tried to snatch his service pistol.

However, in the attempt, the pistol went off and the bullet hit Farhan in his leg. Farhan was rushed to Hamidia Hospital for treatment. An FIR has been registered against him for attempted murder and other relevant sections of the BNS at Ratibadh police station.

High security at Hamidia Hospital

Farhan has been admitted to Hamidia Hospital where he is undergoing treatment under heavy security. Police officials said that his condition was stable and he was being monitored by senior doctors.

Farhan is admitted to a private ward where no one is allowed to meet him. It is worth mentioning that Farhan, Ali and Sahil were attacked by a group of right wing activists while they were taken to JP Hospital for medical examination earlier.

The same day they were surrounded by a group of lawyers and members of some right wing organisations when police took them to the district court.

NCW team reaches Bhopal

A three-member team of the National Commission for Women headed by its president Nirmala Kaur reached Bhopal to conduct an enquiry into the rape and blackmailing case.

The NCW had earlier issued notice to the police commissioner demanding a report in the case and progress in the action taken in this regard. Police officials said that the commission would independently conduct an enquiry into the case and it would be provided all assistance and relevant documents.

The team may visit the private college where the victims and the accused studied earlier and may record statements of the victims besides examining the available evidence.
