Thane: A tragic incident occurred in Kalyan on Saturday evening, May 3, when an unidentified woman died by suicide after jumping from the 17th floor of a high-rise building in the Yogidham area. According to Khadakpada police, the woman, believed to be around 35 years old, was not a resident of the gated society.
Initial investigations revealed that the woman gained access to the residential complex and was seen on CCTV entering one of the elevators in a 19-storey building. She is suspected to have reached the refuge area on the 17th floor before jumping off. Her identity has not yet been established.
Police are examining security footage and speaking to security personnel and residents to determine how she entered the premises. Efforts are also being made to trace her background and find out if she had any connection to the area or the residents. The body was sent for postmortem and further inquiry is underway.
Man Arrested For Murder Of Live-in Partner In Dombivli
In a separate case, the Kalyan Crime Branch arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly killing his live-in partner over a domestic dispute. The accused, Subhash Bhoir, was taken into custody on April 30 for the murder of his 37-year-old companion, which took place in Dombivli on April 22.
Initially, the case was treated as an accidental death and an ADR was registered by Tilak Nagar police after the woman was found dead in their shared apartment. However, the victim’s parents raised suspicions and approached the police, prompting a deeper investigation.
Police said that Bhoir, whose wife had died 20 years ago, had been in a relationship with the woman for the past three years. The deceased had separated from her husband, and the couple had been living together. Probe revealed that the couple had frequent arguments and on the night of April 22, a dispute escalated, leading Bhoir to allegedly strangle the woman in a fit of rage before fleeing the scene.
Following a detailed probe and use of technical surveillance, Bhoir was traced to Durgadi Bridge in Kalyan. A team from the Crime Branch laid a trap and arrested him. He remains in custody as further legal proceedings continue.
