There was a stampede in a temple in Goa. Five devotees who were seriously injured in the stampede have been admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. A committee of senior doctors from various departments posted here has been constituted. State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane gave this information after the meeting with Health Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra, Dean of GMCH, Dr. Shivanand Bandekar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Rajesh Patil, OSD Dr. Rajanand Desai, Chief of the Chiefs Departments and Framela de Arujo, the head of the head departments and Advisor to the Health Minister.

On the other hand, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant posted on the social media platform ‘X’ and said that ‘Magistrate investigation will be started for a thorough investigation into the incident in Shirgaon Jatra’. I will soon preside over a high level meeting to review the entire situation and ensure appropriate action. Apart from this, the Government of Goa has also transferred North Goa Collector IAS Sneha Gitte IM, North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal, DSP Jivba Dalvi of Bicholim and Police Inspector of Bicholim.

 

More than 70 people were injured.

Officials said six devotees were killed and more than 70 people were injured in a stampede in the morning during the festival held at a Devi temple in Shirgaon village. This stampede took place when thousands of people gathered in narrow streets. It has been decided to set up a committee of senior specialist doctors from various departments, who will be present 24 hours at GMCH for the treatment of five seriously injured patients. For the convenience and care of these patients, ‘point-of-care management’ will be ensured. The Health Minister said that soon after the stampede, these patients were made ‘Green Corridors’ to transfer the trauma to the ICU without any disruption in the emergency services of GMCH.
