Raids in 100 places, 3 thousand people questioned
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General DG Sadanand Date is expected to return to Delhi from Srinagar and submit the initial report to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The NIA team investigating the case also recorded the statements of the victim families. During his visit, the Director General of NIA visited the Basaron Valley and reviewed the progress of investigation at the scene. He also held a high -level meeting with local authorities. In this meeting, along with reviewing the current security situation, special emphasis was laid on strengthening the intelligence system and better exchange of shared information.
Joint action of security agencies
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and other security agencies conducted a joint operation and raided about 100 locations associated with the arrested workers. During the raid, the house of Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar alias Lutram, founder of the banned terrorist group Al-Umar Mujahideen, was also searched. Zargar is the same terrorist who was released in 1999 after the kidnapping of Indian Airlines flight IC-814.
3000 suspects questioned
The NIA and the Jammu and Kashmir Police have so far registered cases against 90 OGWs under the UAPA, while around 3,000 suspects have been questioned. Investigation agencies believe that there is a deep conspiracy behind this attack, the layers of which are slowly opening. The Union Home Ministry will decide further strategies based on this report and issue instructions to tighten the security system.
