Date 24 August 1947. Mohammad Ali Jinnah wanted to spend his holidays in Kashmir. But King Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir did not want Mohammad Ali Jinnah to come to Kashmir during this political upheaval. That is why he refused Jinnah to enter Jammu and Kashmir. When this decision of Hari Singh created a feeling of insult in his mind (to the Father of the Nation), Pakistan started trying to capture strategically important Jammu and Kashmir at any cost, which has 75 percent Muslim population.
Just a month after independence, in September 1947, Pakistan attacked Jammu and Kashmir. After this attack, Hari Singh agreed to merge Jammu and Kashmir in India. After this, the Indian Army took command and when the ceasefire was announced, they were pushing the Pakistani army back. By the time the ceasefire was announced, Jammu and Kashmir had divided into two parts. PoK was established. A line was drawn between the two countries, called the Line of Actual Control (LOC).
After the Pahalgam terror attack, tension has once again arisen on the border. There is a strong possibility of the fifth war. The intervention of the United Nations Security Council in the India-Pakistan War stopped the ongoing war for Kashmir, otherwise the Indian Army would reach Lahore and begged Pakistan Shastri ji.
Pakistan started war
After the death of the Indo-China War of 1962 and then in 1964, after the death of former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Pakistan began to feel that India was weakening. For this reason, in 1965, Pakistani President Ayub Khan’s desire to capture Kashmir arose. Considering India as weak, Pakistan planned Operation Gibraltar to take advantage of the opportunity. The people involved in this operation were given two tasks, the first to incite Kashmiri Muslims against India and the second important Indian military posts. On August 5, 1965, Kashmir was infiltrated, but due to the information given by the local Kashmiris, the campaign failed.
Pakistan attacked as soon as Operation Gibraltar failed
The failure of Operation Gibraltar exposed Pakistan’s nefarious intentions. In reality, India detained four officers involved in Operation Gibraltar. On August 8, All India Radio broadcast the interview of the arrested officers. Pakistan became angry when this action became public, about which even senior Pakistani officials were not aware. After this, Pakistan started shenchings with cannons. It is from here that the 1965 war between India and Pakistan started.
Indian soldiers reached Lahore
The Indian Army, which has fought two wars, formulated a new strategy. India opened a front towards Lahore to reduce the pressure on Kashmir and to trap Pakistan in its net. The code of this entire operation was Word ‘Bangal’. The Indian Army opened four fronts and captured Bhasin, Doghech and Bahgariya in the north of Dograi in a few hours. Dogarai is just 5 minutes away from Lahore.
‘We will not risk 10 crore Pakistanis’ lives for Kashmir’
India joined the United Nations on 23 September amidst the India-Pakistan War. The ceasefire was then announced and the war ended. Surprised and upset Pakistan President Ayub Khan called a cabinet meeting and said, “I want you to understand that Pakistan will not endanger the lives of 100 million Pakistanis for 50 million Kashmiris.” The Tashkent Agreement was signed after this war. The then Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri died dramatically in Tashkent. After this, Iron woman Indira Gandhi took over the reins of India.
