The current situation in Pakistan is pointing to dramatic changes in political equations. Amid growing tension with India after Pahalgam militant attacks and potential military retaliation, Pakistani Army Chief Aseem Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have sought help from former prison Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to sources, four former military officers have been sent to Imran Khan to convince PTI to stop protests against Aseem Munir and to stop protests in Sindh. After the Pulwama attack in 2019, the then PM Imran Khan removed ISI Chief Aseem Munir from his post before the term ended. This is the first time in the history of ISI. After this, the relationship between Asim Munir and Imran Khan became quite tense. It is believed that due to this enmity, Asim Munir had made a strategy to send Imran to jail. Now the same Asim Munir is forced to ask for help from Imran Khan.

The strong political and military signs from India after the Pahalgam attack have created a stir in Pakistan’s internal politics. There is an atmosphere of fear among people due to siren systems, bunker construction and red alerts in areas like Sindh, Karachi and Lahore. The Pakistani government is afraid that rebellion within the country may provoke, especially from PTI supporters and movements in Sindh. That is why Asim Munir and Shahbaz Sharif have chosen the path to please Imran Khan to pacify the ongoing protests in the country.

After the terrorist attack on 22 April in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, India has taken strict action against Pakistan. The government canceled the Indus Water Treaty. After this, Pakistani leaders are constantly making rhetoric. They fear that India may attack them anytime.
