What is the National Herald case?

The National Herald newspaper was founded in 1938 by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It was a symbol of freedom struggle, published by Associated Journal Limited i.e. AJL. After the financial crisis in 2008, the newspaper was closed and the dispute started from here. In 2010, a company called Young India Private Limited (Yil) was formed, with 38-38% stake of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. In this case, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy alleged in 2012 that YIL had purchased AJL’s assets worth more than Rs 2000 crore for only Rs 50 lakh. He demanded that a case of fraud and money treatment should be registered against him.
