Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A Class 7 girl was allegedly gang-raped by her social media friend and his accomplice in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, after being lured from Jabalpur, police said on Thursday.

The girl was lured by a young man named Rajan from Mandla, who had befriended her through Snapchat about six months ago.

After chatting for a while, they exchanged phone numbers and stayed in contact.

A few days ago, Rajan called the girl and invited her to Mandla, saying he would take her to visit Kanha National Park. Trusting him, the girl made an excuse at home and travelled alone to Mandla on April 26.

After she arrived, Rajan took her to a friend’s house. There, she was held captive for three days. During this time, both Rajan and his friend allegedly raped her repeatedly.

On April 29, the two accused dropped her at Mandla Bus Stand and warned her not to tell anyone. They threatened that Rajan had friends in Jabalpur who could harm her or her family if she spoke out.

Despite the threats, the girl bravely told her mother everything after returning home.

That same night, her family went to the Garha police station and filed a complaint.

Based on her statement, a case of gang rape was registered under relevant IPC sections and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

The Jabalpur police have sent a team to Mandla, and a search is underway to find the two accused.

The survivor told police that she could not clearly identify the routes, as it was dark when she was taken to the location. The roads were narrow and unfamiliar, which has made it difficult for her to describe the place where she was kept.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are treating the case with seriousness.
