Milk and dairy products company Amul has increased milk prices by Rs 2 per liter from today. Increased rates will be applicable across the country from today. The company said that there has been no increase in milk prices since June 2024.

Last year, Amul gave relief to customers for about 5 months and gave 50 ml free and 100 ml free milk on a pack of 1 liter and 2 liters respectively. Apart from this, in January 2025, Amul reduced the price of his 1 liter pack by Rs 1, which provided relief to the customers.

The company said that the main reason for the price hike is an increase in the cost of more than 3.6 million milk producers. In the last one year, all the members of Amul have started giving better milk rates to farmers. Amul said that about 80 percent of the amount collected from consumers is returned directly to milk producers. The company said that the remaining part of the increase in the selling price of milk will be given back to the milk producers and they will be encouraged to increase milk production.
