Mumbai: A court has said that actress Malaika Arora is deliberately delaying legal proceedings by not appearing in court as a witness in the 2012 hotel attack case related to actor Saif Ali Khan. The court gave him a last chance to appear, otherwise a non-bailable warrant will be issued.

The court expressed displeasure over that Arora did not appear in the court on 29 April even after the bailable warrant was issued. The court said that despite knowing about the summons, she was deliberately avoiding appearing in the court. Arora was in the group who went to a dinner with Khan at the time of the alleged incident at Panchtarak Hotel on 22 February 2012.

The court has given Arora the last chance to appear on July 9, saying that non-bailable warrant will be issued otherwise. On 15 February, the court issued a warrant of April 8, but she did not appear.

Saif and two other accused were arrested on the complaint of NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma. The incident occurred when the actor was accompanied by his wife Kareena, sister Karishma and some male friends.

Sharma opposed the noise made by the actor and his friends. Saif threatened her and punched her nose, which broke her nose. Saif and his friends were also accused of killing Sharma’s father -in -law Raman Patel.

Saif claimed that the matter caught up because Sharma had made inflammatory statements and abused women. A charge sheet has been filed against Saif, Shakeel Ladakh and Bilal Amrohi.
