The tension between India and Pakistan has been increasing since the terrorist attack on tourists in the Basaron Valley of Pahalgam on 22 April. After the attack, India took tough decisions, but threats are also being made by Pakistan. But if we look at the figures, Pakistan cannot stand around India anywhere in terms of military expenses. Because India’s military expenses are about 9 times more than Pakistan.
India’s military expenses are nine times more than Pakistan
After the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan has become frustrated with tension with India and has started threatening nuclear attacks in response to India’s action. But even though Pakistan is making such threats, it cannot stand in front of the Indian Army. If we look at history, till now both countries have suffered defeat in mutual wars.
Pakistan’s situation, which has been facing economic crisis for some time, can be gauged from a report released by Sweden’s leading think tank Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) on Monday, according to which India’s military expenses in 2024 will be about nine times more than Pakistan. This report has come amid increasing tension between the two countries over the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
According to a report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India spent $ 86.1 billion (about Rs 7,32,453 crore) on its army last year, which is 1.6 percent higher than the previous year i.e. 2023. On the other hand, Pakistan’s military budget is $ 10.2 billion, or about 2,85,397 crore Pakistani rupees.
India in fifth place in the world in terms of military expenditure
India spends a lot on its army and weapons and is currently the fifth largest military spending country in the world. If we look at the top 5 countries, then America is in the first place, China in second place, Russia in third place, Germany in fourth place and then India in fifth place. These five countries contribute 60 percent of the total global military expenditure and their total budget is $ 1,635 billion.
European countries also increased the expenditure.
SIPRI said in its report ‘World Military Expenditure Trend 2024’ that there has also been a significant increase in military expenditure in Europe, which has increased by 17 percent. Russia’s military expenditure has now increased by 38 percent to about 149 billion dollars. SIPRI senior researcher Diego Lopes da Silva has said that Russia has once again made a significant increase in its military expenses. According to the report, Germany’s military spending has increased by 28 percent and Poland’s military expenditure by 31 percent.
