MP Appeals To People To Launch Stop Water Misuse Campaign In Sagar | Representative Image
Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): Member of Parliament from Sagar, Lata Wankhede, has appealed to people to launch stop misuse of water campaign in each village under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abihyan.
Wankhede made the statement at a Kalas Yatra (procession with pitchers) under the campaign at the collector on Wednesday.
Those who were present at the event vowed to stop misuse of water and maintain cleanliness.
MPs Lata Wankhede and Rahul, legislator Brij Bihari Pateriya and chairperson of district Panchayat Heera Singh and officials of the district administration took part in the function.
Wankhede said Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had launched Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan across the state.
Collector Sandeep GR, also present at the function, said the officials worked to revive the drying water bodies, like streams, lakes, step-wells and rivers under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan.
Sagar gets new train
The centre has gifted a summer special train to Sagar. The train is named Durg-Lalkuan. It will run between Durg in Chhattisgarh and Lalkuan in Nainital. The train will stop at the Sagar railway station. Sagar MP Lata Wankhede gave the information on Wednesday.
The train will start from Thursday (May 1). The train will leave the Sagar station at 10:45pm and reach Mathura at 6am and reach Lalkuan at 6pm.
Encroachments removed
A team consisting of the officials of the revenue department and the police removed encroachers from a water body in Sanodha village Panchayat.
The revenue officials took the action after getting instructions from collector Sandeep GR.
Sub-divisional magistrate Aditi Yadav, Tehsilders Sunil Sharma and Harish Lalwani and sub-divisional officer of police Prakash Mishra and others were present when the encroachers were removed under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan.
The collector said the administration demarcated the water bodies and set up barriers around them to stop encroachers.
