Bijapur: In a major breakthrough in anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, security forces took control of one of the important hills in a village in Bastar division, reported NDTV Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh. The biggest anti-Naxal operation, which was launched last week, has entered the ninth day on Wednesday. Commandoes were airdropped at the hill.
Around 24,000 security personnel belonging to different units, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, Special Task Force (STF), all units of the state police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and its elite Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA) are involved in the operation, officials said as reported by PTI.
Security personnel are now reportedly targeting Karighatta Hill. Earlier they captured the Neelam Hill. According to reports, at least 2,000 armed Naxalites are tarpped in the area.

Notably, the Karighatta Hill has a challenging terrain at a height of five thousand feet. At present, the temperature of the hill is between 40 to 45 degrees Celsius.
The joint operation is being carried out by security personnel from three states – Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. As per sources, most wanted Naxalists Hidma and Deva present in the area with their cadres.
On Monday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai asserted elimination of Naxalism is essential to secure the state’s future.
The Chhattisgarh CM made the remarks while chairing a high-level meeting convened to review the status of the anti-Naxal operation.
Vishnu Deo’s Statement:
In February this year, Shah vowed to end Naxalism by March 31, 2026. While speaking at CRPF’s 86th Raising Day function as the chief guest in Neemuch on April 17, Shah reiterated the Centre’s commitment to end Naxalism by March Next year.
He said that Naxalism, which is confined to just four districts in India, will be eliminated by March 31, 2026, and the CRPF is the “backbone” of this mission. Shah added that he is confident of victory wherever the CRPF is deployed.
