Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A youth was allegedly assaulted and abused by two unidentified persons from another community on Bhopal-Indore passenger train for watching reels on social media related to Pahalgam terror attack.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday registered an FIR against the accused on the complaint of the victim.The victim claimed he was attacked while watching a reel regarding the Pahalgam terror attack, which upset the accused.
GRP Inspector Rashmi Patidar said that based on the complaint by the youth, a case has been registered against two unidentified persons under sections 118 (1) (intentionally causing hurt by dangerous means), 296 (abuse), 351 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections of BNS.
She said the complainant youth has been medically examined and efforts are being made to identify the accused based on the video and CCTV footage of the incident.
The youth, who reached the GRP police station wearing a cap on his head and a mask on his face to hide his identity, told reporters, “I was travelling to Indore from Shujalpur in the general coach of the Bhopal-Indore passenger train and was watching reels related to the Pahalgam terror attack on my mobile phone.
Two unidentified men started arguing with me, saying that I was watching this reel by looking at them. They objected to it and asked me not to watch such reels on the train.
They assaulted me on the moving train between Lakshmibai railway station and Indore railway station. I even changed the coach but they again assaulted me.”
During the dispute over this reel, the accused allegedly said objectionable things about India and the Constitution and also tried to throw him out of the moving train. The police have begun a search for the accused and further investigation is underway.
