The whole world first knew the Turki by the name of Türkiye. But in 2021, the government led by President Rechup Tayyip Erdogan changed the name of the country to Turki. According to President Erdogan, the name “Turka” reflects the culture, traditions, and civilization of the Turkish people.
Sri Lanka (Old Name: Ceylon)
During the British Raj, Sri Lanka was called “Ceylon”. As soon as he gained independence from British rule in 1972, this country established itself as “Sri Lanka”. In 2011, the use of the old name “Ceylon” was completely discontinued in 2011.

This popular country of South-East Asia was earlier known as “Siam”. In the year 1939, the then government changed the name of the country to “Thailand”, meaning “land of independent people.” The purpose of this name change was to promote national unity and pride.
Jordan (Old Name: Transjordon)
Jordan, the Middle East country, was earlier called “Transjordon”. This name was given because the region used to fall across the famous “Jordan River”. Later, to achieve independence and establish a national identity, it was reduced to just the name “Jordan”.
