In good news for Punekars, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said that the Pune Metro will be connected to the Pune International Airport (PNQ), and a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared for the project by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). He was speaking at a meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) on Monday.

Regarding the route, the Pune MP said it will run from Kharadi to Pune Airport and will be part of the Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi line.

During the meeting, Mohol also emphasised that Kharadi should be developed as an Interchangeable and Multimodal Transport Hub, and proposed a Katraj to Hinjawadi metro line.

Speaking about the long-pending Purandar Airport, he said that land acquisition is currently being carried out by the state government through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). A sub-divisional officer has been appointed for each village, and land acquisition notifications have already been issued, he added.

Recently, Mohol inaugurated the ‘Udaan Yatri Cafe’ at Pune Airport. The highlight of the cafe is its affordability. “The cafe offers travellers affordable and premium quality food options, with tea and water available at ₹10, and coffee, vada-pav, samosa, and sweets at ₹20,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “This is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’. After successful launches in Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Chennai, Pune now joins the network, making travel more accessible and passenger-friendly,” he added.
