Mumbai – Security has been increased at all railway stations in Mumbai after the Pahalgam attack. Investigation has been extended by Railway Police and RPF and security measures have been reviewed. Monitoring will be increased by installing ten thousand additional CCTV cameras at railway stations.
There are a total of 139 stations on Central and Western Railway under the Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate. 3,200 local boats run daily in suburban networks. About 8 million people travel there, in addition to thousands of people travel with hundreds of long distance boats. All these stations will be monitored with CCTV cameras. Not only this, the number of security personnel has been increased at all the stations and investigation is being done with dog squad in every locality.
Strict security is being kept at Churchgate, Mumbai Central, Dadar, Bandra and Borivali stations and Central Railway CST, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak, Kalyan stations of Western Railway, as long distance trains stop here. Police stations are maintaining personal contact with the cleaning staff, porters, boot polishing and canteen employees. So that information can be obtained immediately about any suspect or object. Each senior police inspector has been asked to be present at the field place for at least two hours.
Each police officer will patrol at least four hours in the police station area. Random investigation of tourists continues. Pictures of the investigation are broadcast daily in WhatsApp groups of police stations. This information has been given by the Railway Police Commissionerate.
