News India Live, Digital Desk: (8th Pay Commission) Big news for government employees! Preparations for the formation of 8th Pay Commission are in full swing. Department of Finance Ministry of Finance has taken important steps in this direction.
Recently (on April 21) two circulars have been issued, from which the process of recruitment to 42 posts has started. These posts include the chairman of the Commission, two other important members, advisors and the rest of the staff. If everything goes well according to the plan, then it is expected that by the end of next month, the 8th Pay Commission will handle its work and will be busy preparing the recommendations.
Who can become the chairman and the chief member?
According to a report from sources, the names of the commission chairman and two prominent members have almost been finalized. These names can be formally announced in just a short time. Most of the appointments for the remaining 40 posts will be made on the basis of deputation (ie send to another department for some time) from different government departments.
This time the panel of the pay commission will be small?
It seems that this time the 8th Pay Commission may be slightly smaller than the previous commissions. The 7th Pay Commission (7th Pay Commission) had a total of 45 members including Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur (which included 18 people, 16 advisors and 7 other employees of the secretariat). There is currently 42 posts for the 8th Commission.
By the way, the size of the commission has been changing earlier also. The 6 Contract Pay Commission had only four members and 17 secretariat staff, while the 5th Pay Commission had only three members. That is, the number of members of the Commission has been decreasing according to the need.
Preparations started from employees also
On the other hand, the staff side of the National Council (JCM) on behalf of the employees has also tightened up. On April 22, there was a major meeting of the Standing Committee, in which important issues related to employees like – how much is the minimum wage, how is the structure of salary, what to keep the fitment factor, what to get the allowances, what should be found, the promotion policy and what are the benefits of pension (Pension) – all these were discussed deeply.
A drafting committee (ie draft committee) has also been formed, which will include representatives of large federations of employees. These representatives have been asked to send their names by 30 April 2025, so that a strong and complete memorandum (memorandum) can be presented to the 8th Pay Commission (8th Pay Commission).
Last date for sending suggestions is also fixed
Staff Side Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra issued a circular asking all member organizations to send their suggestions to both PDF and Word by 20 May 2025. The final memorandum will be prepared only after consulting all these suggestions.
Waiting for formal announcement from the government
However, it is important to note here that the government has not yet announced the formal formation or working scope of the 8th Pay Commission (8th Pay Commission).
However, the way circulars have been issued and internal preparations are going on, there are clear indications that the government is moving fast in this matter. This is expected that the Commission will start its work soon, in the coming few months.
