News India Live, Digital Desk: New Delhi/Islamabad: After the Pahalgam terror attack, India has started taking tough measures against Pakistan, causing panic in the neighboring country. On Saturday, India took an unexpected step and suddenly released a huge amount of water in the Jhelum River passing through Hattian Bala area in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). Soon after, the local administration had to declare water emergency in the area.
A sudden increased level of water caused panic in the area and people who came in panic left their homes and started running towards safe places. According to reports, this strong flow of water through Uri and Anantnag in India reached the Chakothi area, causing the water level of Jhelum river to rise dangerously.
Indus Water Treaty also suspended, Pakistan will increase difficulty
With the release of water in Jhelum, India took another major decision in 1960 with Pakistan. Indus Waters Treaty Has also been suspended with immediate effect. This means that India will no longer share any important information with Pakistan’s water flow, possible flood warnings and melting of glaciers. Experts believe that the move will directly affect Pakistan’s disaster management capabilities. Now they will not be able to get prior information about natural disasters like floods or droughts, due to which the loss of life and property can be much more.
‘Strike’ on medicine after water, closed trade
Pakistan, which was facing water, got the second major setback when India also decided to stop the business of raw materials of drugs and medicines (API – Active Pharmaceutical ingredients). This is a big problem for Pakistan, because the pharma sector there is largely dependent on the raw material coming from India.
Officials associated with Pakistan’s pharma industry believe that about 30 to 40 percent of the raw materials are imported from India for medicines made in the country. Due to the stoppage of this trade, there is a danger of heavy shortage of many essential medicines including life saving medicines in Pakistan.
Pakistan in the process of ordering medicine from China-Russia
Sensing this tough stance of India, the Government of Pakistan is now trying to seek help from other countries. The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued a statement saying that they are considering options to order raw materials of drugs from China, Russia and some European countries. Especially the emphasis is on creating alternative supply chains for medicines of serious diseases such as anti-rebbit vaccine (dog bites), anti-stenam (treatment of snake bites) and cancer.
Pakistani leader in furious, but in reality the crisis deepens
After these steps in India, political rhetoric in Pakistan has also intensified. The leaders there are giving jackal bhakhakis to India, but the ground reality is that Pakistan is getting in all -round crisis at this time. On the one hand, the sudden flood has disturbed the lives of the people, on the other hand, the possible lack of medicines has put a serious threat to the country’s health system.
