Mumbai – A special court in Pune has invited Rahul Gandhi to appear on May 9 in the criminal defamation case filed by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s superothe, alleging that he has been accused of making objectionable statements against Hindutva ideology.
Earlier, Gandhi was given permanent exemption from appearing in court, however, the hearing began as a summons test after Rahul Gandhi seeked permission to present detailed evidence on the record in support of his statement. The court has directed Gandhi to attend the next hearing and register his arguments.
Savarkar’s supernatural Satyaki Savarkar lodged a complaint in a court in Pune. The case was transferred from the Judicial Magistrate First Class (FMFC) court to a special court.
Satyaki alleged in the complaint that Gandhi claimed in a speech in London in March 2023 that VD Savarkar wrote in his book that his five to six friends had once killed one Muslim and he was happy with it.
Satyaki said that no such incident happened and Savarkar has not written anything like this anywhere. He alleged that Gandhi’s allegations were false and concocted. The court asked the police to investigate the allegations and submit the report. The police investigated and said that prima facie facts have been found in the complaint.
