Iran and Saudi Arabia have appealed to both countries to maintain peace in view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan after a horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Iran cited historical relations
Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi posted on social media saying that India and Pakistan are neighboring countries of Iran and have had centuries old cultural and civilized relations with them. Araghchi said, “Like other neighbors, we consider India and Pakistan to be our top priority.” He further said that Tehran is ready to use its diplomatic offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to increase better dialogue and understanding between the two countries during this difficult time.
Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic effort
Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud also took initiative amid fears of increasing military tension between India and Pakistan. Talked on telephone with Jaishankar and Pakistan Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
