Mumbai: A 34-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and six others were hospitalised after a fire broke out early Saturday morning in Broke Land Building, a residential structure located near Ashok Academy Lane in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West).

The fire, which started around Room No. 104 on the first floor of the ground-plus-eight-storey building, was largely confined to that area but generated thick smoke that spread throughout the premises.

Most of the affected residents suffered from smoke inhalation. Firefighters responded promptly to the scene and managed to rescue several individuals, transporting them to nearby hospitals using 108 ambulances and private vehicles.

Unfortunately, Abhina Kartik Sanjanvalia (34) was declared dead on arrival at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, while safety audits of the building are expected to follow.

More details are awaited
