Islamabad: Tension between India and Pakistan has reached its peak after the Pahalgam terror attack. A day after India canceled the six -decade -old Indus Treaty with Pakistan, Pakistan has also canceled the Shimla Agreement on Thursday. Pakistan said that the cancellation of the Indus Treaty is similar to declaring war. Pakistan Defense Minister Khwaja Asif claimed that Pakistan is capable of responding to any attack. He claimed that he had caught another Indian agent like Kulbhushan Jadhav.
The next day of the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India’s top security meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday and took some important decisions including cancellation of the six-decade-old Indus Treaty with Pakistan. In response to India’s attack, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif held a meeting of the National Security Council in Islamabad on Thursday and announced the same steps taken by India.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan (PMO) said in a statement that the participants in the meeting discussed the national security environment and regional status, especially in the context of the Pahalgam attack. Regarding stopping the water of the Indus river, Pakistan has threatened that if India stops the Indus Treaty and stops the water, it will be considered a war action. Pakistan described India’s decision to cancel the Indus Treaty as unilateral, unjust, politics inspired and extremely irresponsible.
The Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan said that Pakistan will take advantage of suspending all bilateral agreements with India, including the Shimla Agreement. With this, Pakistan has banned all types of trade with India including third countries. Pakistan has ordered Indian Defense, Navy and Air Force advisors and their colleagues to leave Pakistan in Islamabad by 30 April. Instructions have also been given to reduce the number of employees of the Indian High Commission to 30.
Pakistan has also announced the closure of the Wagah border. Pakistan has canceled all visas given to Indians under the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme and ordered the remaining Indians to leave Pakistan within 48 hours except Sikh religious pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khwaja Asif claimed that India should not consider us weak. Our army is fully prepared to respond to any aggression of India. He has also claimed to have allegedly claimed an Indian agent on the Punjab border like Kulbhushan Jadhav. According to media reports, Khwaja Asif has claimed that Pakistan has arrested an Indian agent. This case is similar to Kulbhushan Jadhav. However, he did not give the name of the arrested person or any other details. According to Pakistani media reports, the arrested person is named Ashok Chaturvedi.
