Pahalgam terrorist attack: After the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India is expecting major military action against Pakistan. Former Pakistan High Commissioner in India and Germany, Abdul Basit Ali himself mentioned the occasion and warned the Pakistani government to be vigilant, saying, “The countdown is beginning.”
India’s fierce reaction and naval strength
The Government of India has taken some important military action after the Pahalgam terror attack. In particular, the Indian Navy has greatly increased its presence in the Arabian Sea, causing a stir in the Government of Pakistan. Abdul Basit expressed his concern in this context and referred to India’s previous experiences – such as the Uri attack in 2016 and the Surgical and airstrikes by India after the Pulwama attack in 2019.
“India can take big action in a week” – Abdul Basit
In an interview to the Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune, Basit said, “India can take strict military action against Pakistan within seven days. This action can be taken against terrorist launch pads located in the border areas.” He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech saying, “India is ready to do something big.” He said, “There may be a sudden attack from across the border. India will later say that they have destroyed the terrorist camps. This can create a big challenge for Pakistan’s law and order.”

Indus Water Treaty and International Investment
Speaking about the Indus Water Treaty, Basit said, “The treaty cannot be unilaterally canceled, suspended or modified. If India tries to do so, it would be a violation of international law.” He has advised the Pakistani government to contact the World Bank and prepare a strong diplomatic response, as the World Bank is an intermediary and guarantor of the agreement. Basit accused India, saying, “India is not following its international obligations and yet it is claiming a seat in the United Nations Security Council. It is not in line with democratic values.”
An atmosphere of fear in Pakistan
In this backdrop, talks like war in Pakistan have started emerging. He has feared instability in Balochistan and other regions and advised the government to take immediate steps.
India’s possible action and Pakistan’s restlessness
India-Pakistan relations are once again on the verge of tension. Senior Pakistani diplomats have now accepted the possibility that India can take strict steps after the Pahalgam attack. The Pakistani government and the army are cautious as some major incidents are expected to happen in the next seven days. All these developments indicate that India will not be careless about its security and will not hesitate to take decisive action if needed.
