Mumbai: In a heartbreaking incident in Mumbai’s Mankhurd area, an eight-year-old boy lost his life after falling into a water-filled pit near an ongoing metro construction site in Sonapur on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services, including the police and fire brigade, rushed to the scene following a distress call. Aryan was pulled from the water and immediately taken to Rajawadi Hospital in a police vehicle. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead on arrival, according to a The Times Of India report.

Eyewitnesses informed police that Aryan had been playing near the construction zone when the tragic accident occurred. Authorities have registered a case of accidental death, and an investigation is underway to determine whether there was negligence involved in securing the construction site.

This incident has sparked renewed outrage and concern over the lack of safety measures at construction zones, especially in residential neighbourhoods where children are often present. Further action will be based on the police inquiry and related findings, officials stated, as per report.

In a tragic incident on Monday night, a 10-year-old girl lost her life, and another woman sustained severe burn injuries after a fire broke out in the Mandala area of Mankhurd, Mumbai. The fire was reported at 8:20 PM to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, prompting an immediate response. Fire engines, an ambulance, and police personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene to control the situation and assist victims.

According to information from the Fire Control Room, at least six people were reported injured in the incident. All injured individuals were rushed to the BMC-run Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi for treatment. At the time of filing this report, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had confirmed one fatality and one person critically injured.
