The central government has taken an important step in the interest of farmers regarding the purchase of arhar (tur) dal. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the government is purchasing the minimum support price (MSP) of 100 percent production through central agencies like NAFED and NCCF. So far more than 2.56 lakh farmers have been benefited from this scheme.
How much purchase has been done so far?

A total of 3.92 lakh metric tonnes of arhar dal has been purchased by 22 April 2025.

This purchase has been done in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana.

This has given direct benefits to a total of 2,56,517 farmers.
Announcement of 100% purchase on MSP

The government announced in the budget 2025 that by 2028-29, 100% purchase of arhar, urad and lentils would be made at MSP to achieve the target of self-sufficiency of pulses.

The purchase is being made from farmers already registered on NAFED’s e-prosperity portal and NCCF’s e-recommendation portal.
