Mumbai – The Bombay High Court sentenced a woman to a week’s simple imprisonment for making derogatory remarks against the High Court. The High Court ruled in favor of the dog lovers of the Navi Mumbai Housing Society, convicting the court’s criminal contempt.

The court said that educated persons are not expected to mention the word ‘dog mafia’. Girish Kulkarni and Justice. The bench of Advaita Sethna sentenced Vinita Srinandan to a week’s simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000. A fine of 20 thousand was imposed.

The court refused to accept Srinandan’s apology, a member of the Society’s Management Committee, saying, “We will not accept crocodile tears.” In such cases, criminals always use mantras like “sorry”.

However, on the request of Srinandan’s lawyer, the court has stayed the order and has given eight days for the appeal. The case was of dispute between Leela Verma and Society, a resident of the society. Leela Verma filed a petition in the High Court in January alleging that they were being harassed by the management committee on the issue of feeding dogs.

The High Court said that if the society has any complaint, it should go to the municipality, not the residents. The court prohibited the society from interfering in the case of giving food to dogs at designated places and preventing the municipality from taking legal action.

Verma said that according to the law, Residents Welfare Association (RWA) and Apartment Owners Association (AOA) should be allowed to feed stray dogs in their premises. The local authority should also provide necessary facilities in the specified area.

Following the court order, Srinandan sent some emails to the committee members, in which derogatory remarks were made against the judges.

Contempt proceedings were initiated after informing the court about the case. On Wednesday, the High Court said that emails and letters fall under the criminal contempt of the court. The tone and lesson of correspondence is derogatory and indicates the High Court’s January 21 order.
