Mumbai: Sanjay Raut, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), emphasised in a press conference the importance of national unity during crises. He stated that the opposition supports the government’s stance, urging solidarity and refraining from dissent regarding the Kashmir situation and security concerns, as now is the time for unity.

Sanjay Raut, leader of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and MP in a latest press conference stated that, “In times of crisis, it is crucial to demonstrate that the nation is unified. Thus, we, as the opposition, fully support the government’s position or decision. There is no cause for dissent or to adopt a different viewpoint on this”.

Sanjay Raut further emphasised that as a nation, we must stand by the government at this moment. Although we have numerous questions regarding the Kashmir situation and the security of our country, now is not the moment to voice concerns or uncertainties; instead, we must show our solidarity as a nation.

In times of crisis, it becomes important to showcase national unity. Consequently, we, in the opposition, firmly support the government’s position or decision. There is no justification for disagreement or differing opinions on this matter. An all-party meeting has been convened today to address this issue. You make the decision, and we will support you; that is the consensus reached in this meeting. Nevertheless, these meetings hold value only if the suggestions provided by the opposition parties are taken into account, as clarified by Sanjay Raut.

Opposition parties have also governed this country at various times. They have confronted adversaries like Pakistan. Therefore, the input from opposition parties carries significance. An all-party meeting was convened for discussion. However, when a dialogue is requested in Parliament, it is dismissed. A detailed conversation regarding the Kashmir issue needs to take place in Parliament. It is necessary to hold a two-day special session of Parliament to address the Kashmir matter. He also noted the importance of acknowledging the sentiments of opposition parties and the citizens of the country during this session. Various topics are debated in Parliament. Nevertheless, Kashmir and Manipur are omitted from discussions. These are urgent matters in the nation that require attention.

Terrorism and the situation in Kashmir are critical issues. Even amid this crisis, some individuals attempted to exploit Hindu-Muslim and caste-religion politics. However, they did not succeed, for which we owe gratitude to the people. Our stance is that if this serious issue is addressed in Parliament, the government will undoubtedly receive guidance.

As a nation, we will fully support any decision made by the government during this crisis, and there are no divisions on this, he also explained. In such instances, one is reminded of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi fought against Pakistan in 1971 and partitioned that nation into two. She managed the situation effectively and negotiated favorable terms with Pakistan. In the current context, despite the government facing challenges, we stand by them. We will provide them with support. We are united with the government regarding whatever decision it makes, he additionally clarified.
