Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has once again expressed his desire to play his IPL. Aamir says that if he gets a chance, he will give priority to the Indian Premier League (IPL) instead of Pakistan Super League (PSL). His rhetoric has become a topic of discussion in the cricket world.
First choice told IPL
In an interview, Aamir said clearly,
“To say honestly, if I get a chance, I would definitely like to play in IPL. If not found then I will play in PSL.”
He said that his wife Narjis Khatoon is a UK citizen and he is expected to get a British passport soon. This can also give Aamir eligible to play in IPL.
Shocking response to PSL
When Aamir was asked that if the IPL and PSL are at the same time, then they would choose, then they said clearly,
“It depends on which league I am first selected. If the IPL is auctioned first and I am selected, I will not play in the PSL. And if the first PSL draft is done and I am chosen, then I can’t move away.”
Aamir also added that the next time the IPL and PSL conflict the dates are less likely as the ICC Champions Trophy has focused on tournaments.
Have expressed their desire to play IPL earlier also
Mohammad Aamir has already expressed his desire to play IPL in the show ‘Harina Mana Hai’. They said,
“I can get a chance to play in IPL by next year and I will definitely play if found.”
He also said that although Pakistani players are not allowed to play in IPL, former Pakistani players like Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja have been coaching and commentary there.
What will be Aamir’s IPL dream fulfilled?
Mohammad Aamir has retired from international cricket, but his fast bowling is still intact. If they get British citizenship, the dream of playing in the IPL may come true. Now it has to be seen how seriously the IPL franchise takes his wish.
