Gautam Gambhir, the head coach and former Indian cricketer of the Indian cricket team, has been threatened with death from the alleged terrorist organization “ISIS Kashmir”. His staff received this threat by two separate emails between 2 pm and 7 pm on 22 April. Significantly, on April 22, there was a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which tourists were targeted and 26 people lost their lives.
Complaint lodged with Delhi Police
Gambhir’s Personal Secretary Gaurav Arora has filed an official complaint with the Delhi Police after receiving the threatening email. The complaint has demanded the police to register an FIR and ensure the security of Gautam Gambhir and his family along with seriously investigating the case. This complaint has been sent to Rajendra Nagar police station and DCP Central via email.
The complaint letter states:
“Dear sir, please see the attached mail, which has been received on the mail ID of Gautam Gambhir (former MP), head coach of the Indian cricket team. Please immediately file an FIR on it and ensure proper security arrangements for their family.”
Police is investigating
According to Delhi Police sources, investigation into the veracity of threatening email has been started. The police team is trying to identify the person sending the mail and is also trying to find the location of the server sending the email.
Threats have been received before
This is not the first time for Gautam Gambhir that he has received threats to kill this type of life. Earlier in November 2021, he was also threatened, but this time the case is more sensitive, as the threat has been sent in the name of terrorist organization.
Gambhir’s political and sports journey
Gautam Gambhir is currently the head coach of the Indian cricket team, which he handled after the 2024 T20 World Cup. Earlier, he was associated with the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
