Pahalgam terrorist attack: Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air and IndiGo have waived ticket cancellation and schedule change fee in view of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air and IndiGo said on social media that in view of the current situation, we are waiving change and cancellation fees for our flights coming to Srinagar by 30 April 2025.
Apart from this, Air India and IndiGo will operate two special flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on 23 April. According to the information given by Air India, this flight will leave from Srinagar to Delhi at 11:30 am. The flight will leave from Srinagar to Mumbai at 12:00 pm.
DGCA issued instructions
After the Pahalgam terror attack, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked the airlines to increase ticket prices and waive the cancellation fee.
Air India and IndiGo will operate 4 additional flights
Air India and IndiGo will operate a total of four additional flights from Srinagar to the national capital and Mumbai on Wednesday. Airlines companies have also waived ticket renovation and cancellation fees. Civil Aviation Minister K.K. Rammohan Naidu held an immediate meeting with all the airlines and issued strict instructions against the fare hike on Srinagar route.
An official statement released on Wednesday said that airlines have been instructed to maintain regular fare levels to ensure that no passenger is burdened during this sensitive period. Naidu also spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and is closely monitoring the situation by coordinating with the officials concerned.
Four special flights have been sent from Srinagar under immediate relief measures, two of which are for Delhi and two for Mumbai. The statement said, “Additional aircraft have been prepared.” Naidu has instructed all the airlines to work and fully cooperate with the state governments and local authorities to take the families of the deceased to their home states.
Airlines companies are giving full refund
The statement said that the ministry is completely cautious and committed to provide all possible assistance to the affected people. Air India will operate flights from Srinagar to Delhi at 11.30 am and from Srinagar to Mumbai at 12 noon. Air India operates five flights daily from Delhi and Mumbai to Srinagar. The airline is also offering free resurrection and refund for passengers with ‘confirmed booking’ in these areas till April 30.
IndiGo has said that in view of the situation in Srinagar, it has extended the rebellion and cancellation fee exemption for the journey to April 30, which was applicable for booking on or before 22 April. The airline said on the social media platform ‘X’, “Apart from this, we are operating two flights from Srinagar on 23 April and there, one from Delhi and one from Mumbai.” Indigo operates 20 flights daily from Srinagar.
