Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to 26 people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Everyone’s eyes were moist after seeing the bodies placed at Srinagar Police Headquarters. The Home Minister laid a wreath on the coffins and expressed reverence for the dead. After this attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned home from his visit to Saudi Arabia, called an emergency meeting at the airport. The meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Egypt and other senior officials and discussed the seriousness of the attack.
Protests in Jammu-Srinagar
Protests are taking place across the country against this heinous attack. People have come out on the streets in Srinagar and there is heavy opposition in Jammu. People are expressing their anger against terrorism. At the same time, according to reports, terrorists who played Holi of blood in the Baisran Valley of Pahalgam came from Pakistan. Their number was six and they infiltrated from across the border and entered India. According to sources, the terrorists also had body cameras, so that they can probably record a video of the attack.

Condemning the attack, BJP leader Ravinder Raina said, “Terrorist attack in Pahalgam is a slaughter of humanity. Kashmir has been painted with blood. Pakistan and terrorists will have to pay a heavy price this time. The innocents that are shed in Pahalgam will be avenged.”
NIA team sent
Meanwhile, a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been sent to Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The team is headed by an Inspector General (IG). Sources said that the team would provide assistance to the local police and investigate the attack. Most of the 26 people killed in the attack were tourists from different parts of the country. The terrorists opened fire on tourists who were roaming in Basaron in Pahalgam or celebrating a picnic. The region is called ‘Mini Switzerland’ due to its beauty.
