As Delhi Capitals took on Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana stadium, all eyes were on KL Rahul not just because of his current form, but due to the history he shares with the LSG and their owner, Sanjiv Goenka.

Rahul let his bat do all the talking delivering a composed and gritty half-century, Rahul not only anchored the Delhi innings but also sealed the win with the final runs. However, what truly caught fire on social media was what followed after the match.

As players lined up for customary handshakes, Goenka approached Rahul with a smile, extending his hand and a few words of praise. Rahul, in no mood for pleasantries, offered a brief handshake without making eye contact, turned away, and moved on. The cameras caught Rahul ignoring Goenka’s son, Shaswat, who followed closely behind.

The viral moment seemed to echo a clear message from Rahulhe had moved on, and perhaps, still carried a grudge from his time with LSG.

Delhi Capitals continue their surge

LSG, who were put to bat first after losing the toss, managed to score 159/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh gave their team a solid start, with Markram contributing 52 runs off 33 balls. Marsh, provided steady support at the other end, added 45 runs off 36 balls.

However, despite their solid start, the LSG middle-order struggled to accelerate, losing wickets at crucial moments. The Delhi bowlers kept things tight, with Mukesh Kumar taking 4 wickets for 33 runs in his 4 overs.

In response, Delhi Capitals showed their batting prowess by comfortably chasing down the target of 160. Opener Abishek Porel was in top form, scoring a vital 51 runs off 36 balls. KL Rahul played a crucial knock of 57 runs off 42 balls, which featured 3 boundaries and 3 sixes.

With this victory, Delhi recorded their sixth win of the season out of eight matches, matching Gujarat Titans in the standings but placed second due to net run rate. After an electric start to IPL 2025 with four straight wins, a hiccup against Mumbai and a close loss to Gujarat had slowed them down, but this statement win against Lucknow proves DC remains a serious title contender.
