The Tehsildar and Group Development Officer of Peth took immediate notice and visited the village jointly on Monday. They inspected the site, conducted a panchnama, reviewed the local situation and submitted a report with recommendations for necessary measures.

In an official press release the district administration said, “On April 20, 2025, a video was made of a woman getting into a well to fill water. It is alleged that this video was circulated on social media by someone (due to an internal dispute in the village), and it went viral on a large scale. Interestingly, this particular well is not being used for water distribution, and it is clearly showing contaminated water.”

“A proposal is being submitted by the Gram Panchayat to re-dig the well. Till the official approval is received, the Borichiwadi Gram Panchayat will ensure adequate water supply through alternative means. Instead of filling the public well, water is being distributed directly to the residents’ homes by tankers as per their demand,” the clarification further stated.

Borichiwadi has a population of 554. As per the drought action plan, a proposal has been made to re-dig the public well between the months of April and June. Last year (2023-24), the same well was revived, and water was supplied.

The administration has clarified that two years ago, a piped water supply scheme was implemented in the village through the Swadesh Foundation. Through this system, water supply to the villagers was smooth until February 2025 and then till the second week of April 2025.

Since April 17, water has been supplied to the public well through private tankers, and the women of the village are using this water with the help of buckets. On the same day, Gram Panchayat officials inspected the work of re-digging the well and started the process of preparing the report. Besides, instructions were given to fill the public well through tankers until official permission for digging was obtained.

Apart from the piped water supply scheme, there is another public well in Borichiwadi that is in use. At present, the Gram Panchayat is supplying water to this public well through tankers from a private well. However, there has been some opposition from the village deputy sarpanch and police patil.
