Delhi MCD Election: The Aam Aadmi Party has cleared the way of the BJP’s triple government by deciding not to contest the municipal elections in Delhi. After a crushing defeat in the Delhi Assembly, AAP announced that it would not contest the mayor for fear of defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Former Chief Minister Atishi and Delhi AAP coordinator Saurabh Bhardwaj had announced that the party would not contest the mayor. Elections for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held on 25 April.
Atishi accused BJP
Announcing not to contest elections, Atishi said that wherever the BJP loses the election, there is a conspiracy to break the second party and form a government. The MCD was re -integrated, the number of wards was reduced from 272 to 250, the election was delayed, the delimitation was implemented. Look at any state including Gujarat, Goa and Karnataka. He has done politics by plotting such a conspiracy. We do not want to do this kind of politics.
BJP is running a triple engine government
Atishi admitted that the BJP has a majority in the Municipal Corporation. So far no party has filed its nomination. They have an opportunity to run a triple engine government and fulfill their promises. Whether it is security, electricity-water, school-hospital or cleanliness, BJP will now have to fulfill the promises made to the people of Delhi. We want BJP to form its government in MCD. They have governments in the Center and the state. Therefore, now they are getting an opportunity to run a triple government.
This is the reason for not contesting elections.
Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj, stating the reason for not contesting elections in the press conference, said that the BJP achieves its victory by adopting a policy of buying and selling councilors from other parties. But we do not want to do this kind of politics. If we win this election, the BJP will blame it on us. The Environment Minister says that pollution is increasing because you MCD government is burning garbage. So we do not want to contest this election. We are giving BJP a chance to run Delhi.
Run a four engine government: Saurabh Bhardwaj
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that we have constantly seen that the BJP is trying to attract AAP councilors in any way by giving them greed. Therefore, we have decided that this time we will not contest the election of mayor. The BJP should be made its mayor, should form a standing committee and fulfill its promises in Delhi without making any excuse. This time it will form a government with four engines, whose fourth engine will be the Lt. Governor. They should show their abilities to the people of Delhi by running a four -engine government.
