There will be facilities like state-of-the-art International Bus Station, 16 platforms with mall-hattal will be available in Kanpur

A big step is being taken to equip the Jhakrakti bus stand of Kanpur with modern facilities. From June, Jhakrakti bus stand will be closed for the next two to three years. During this time, a new -art and international level new bus base will be prepared here. The project will be constructed under the PPP Model (Public Private Partnership).

Temporary bus stand arrangement

Until the new bus stand is ready, temporary bus stands will be made at some other places including Rawatpur, Sinner City, Papers Factory for the operation of buses.

Why is a trick bus station important?

Jhakarkati bus stand is the busiest bus station in Kanpur, from where about 1050 buses leave for different cities daily. From here, bus services are conducted for many cities and states including Banda, Chitrakoot, Orai, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Delhi, Prayagraj.

What will be new facilities?

16 platforms will be built in the new bus station. It will be equipped with state -of -the -art facilities like bus base mall, hotel, restaurant, multiplexes, super specialty hospitals, comfortable waiting rooms for passengers, food courts and kids zones. For the convenience of passengers, information about the arrival and departure of buses will be available on the big screen. Also, separate offices will also be made for about 100 staff for bus employees.

Spending and planning

The project will cost about Rs 143 crore. A part of the bus stand will develop as a mall. In future it will also be connected to the metro station. Different sheds will be made for buses on the edges of the bus station, where there will be different arrangements for long and short distance buses.
