Indian Golden Oriole perched on tree marked for axing amidst habitat concerns | File Photo

Mira-Bhaynadar: Amid the massive uproar by citizens, nature lovers and social organizations against the proposal of axing thousands of trees to build a car shed for the Metro-9 Rail in Dongri village near Uttan, this Indian Golden Oriole- a beautiful bird with vibrant yellow plumage was spotted at the proposed construction site.

Little does the Golden Oriole realize that the overshooting branches of the tree on which it was perched had been marked (numbered) to be axed.

Besides being a treasure trove of birds, the wilderness is home for a host of animals, amphibians and mammals who face the threat of losing their habitat and lives.
