IRCTC told the truth
Amidst the ruckus from this viral post, IRCTC has clarified the truth through a post on social media platform X. It states that no change is being proposed or implemented in the Tatkal ticket booking time. The company said that some posts are being broadcast on social media channels, which mentions different times for immediate and premium Tatkal tickets. There is no change in immediate or premium immediate booking time for AC or non-AC categories, booking time for agents will also remain unchanged.
What are the rules for Tatkal tickets now?
Currently, the immediate e-ticket can be booked one day before the journey date. Booking will start for Indian time at 10:00 am for AC category (2A, 3A, CC, EC, 3E) and for non-AC category (SL, FC, 2S) at 11:00 am at 11:00 am.
Tatkal ticket facility is not available in the first AC. There is an immediate IRCTC app and a final -minute booking plan available through the website, where limited quota seats are made available at a slightly higher price.
When can I cancel my Tatkal ticket?
It is noteworthy that additional immediate fee has been fixed at 10% of the original fare for the second class and 30% for all other categories and most importantly, no refund is given on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. However, if the Tatkal ticket remains in the waiting list of the train, it can be canceled, but with the standard deduction rules according to the current railway guidelines.
