Meerut: In a fresh development in the Meerut murder case, jail authorities have initiated the process to relocate Muskan Rastogi, a prime accused and currently six weeks pregnant, to a separate barrack designed for expecting inmates. The decision comes in compliance with the jail manual, which stipulates special arrangements for pregnant women in custody.

Muskan, who is accused of murdering her husband Saurabh Rajput, a Merchant Navy officer, with the help of her alleged lover Sahil Shukla, is currently lodged in jail after the sensational killing rocked the city. The duo allegedly disposed of the victim’s body by sealing it inside a cement-filled drum.

On Saturday, April 12, the jail administration received Muskan’s medical report confirming her pregnancy. Another female inmate, Sangeeta, also confirmed to be pregnant through an ultrasound report, will be moved along with Muskan to the designated barracks equipped to provide care for expecting mothers.

Speaking about the shift, Senior Jail Superintendent Veeresh Raj Sharma told India Today, “Trained staff have been deployed to ensure that the pregnant inmates receive proper care and attention. We are taking all necessary steps to make sure they do not face any kind of inconvenience.”

Tailored Diet, Regular Check-ups for Muskan

As per standard procedure and medical protocols outlined in the jail manual, both women will be given a special diet, regular health check-ups, and prescribed medication. Jail officials have assured that the barrack where they will be housed has been prepared to meet their medical and daily care needs.

Meanwhile, the investigation in the shocking murder case is still ongoing.
