Political stir has intensified regarding the Waqf law that came into force across the country from 8 April. While many opposition parties including the Congress are opposing this law, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now preparing for a comprehensive public relations campaign, describing it in the interest of Muslim society. For this, a high -level meeting was held at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

BJP’s emphasis on Waqf law
Protests have been held in several states including West Bengal to protest against the Waqf law. Things also became tense in some areas. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also refused to implement it in the state. Meanwhile, the BJP has called this law with the development of Muslim society and described it as a positive step.
The meeting held at the party headquarters in Delhi was attended by BJP President JP Nadda, Organization General Secretary BL Santosh, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, all the prominent leaders of all the states. Kiren Rijiju explained the points of this law in detail, so that party leaders can answer public questions and answer the facts.
Programs at three levels to bring awareness in Muslim community
The BJP has prepared a comprehensive strategy to remove the misconceptions being spread over Waqf law. The party will conduct a special public awareness campaign regarding this. Under this scheme, activities will be conducted at three levels:
- state level:
- Town hall meeting with Muslim community, other religious leaders, lawyers, teachers, artists and women activists
- Dialogue with Christian society
- Special programs with women leaders
- District Level:
- Dialogue with people of influential Muslim community
- Press conference and presentation
- Dialogue at the assembly level by Yuva Morcha
- Door-to-door connectivity campaign
- Special contact campaign with Muslim women
- Training Program:
- State level workshops 15 to 17 April
- District level workshops will be held on 18 and 19 April
Campaign monitoring and association participation
The BJP has formed a central team under the leadership of National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal to monitor this public awareness campaign. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will also play an active role in this campaign. The VHP has expressed concern over the recent incident in Murshidabad in West Bengal and said that some elements are misleading Muslims.
Special booklet ready on Waqf law
The RSS and BJP have prepared a comprehensive booklet to remove the misconceptions related to the Waqf law. Its name is “Waqf Bill 2024: Respect to Islam and Gift for Muslim – A new initiative”. This book is 128 pages in Hindi and 116 pages in English.
The provisions related to monitoring, transparency, security and overall development of Muslim community have been explained in detail in this booklet. Also, the attitude of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar has been described as inspiration for Waqf reforms.
