Gangapur, Rajasthan: In an unconventional move, a young woman from Dwara village in Rajasthan’s Gangapur, chose to follow her heart over societal expectations. Renu, a student preparing for competitive exams, turned down the offer of an arranged marriage with a government teacher and instead eloped with her long-time boyfriend, Arvind Saini, who works at a local clothes shop.

Their story went viral after an interview surfaced online, wherein the couple could be seen candidly talking about their love story and marriage.

Have a look at it here:

Love Story Blossomed from Coaching Centre to Marriage

Renu and Arvind first met nearly two years ago at a shop near Renu’s coaching centre. “I was roaming the market after class when I first saw him,” Renu shared in the interview, adding that their conversation started casually and soon grew into a deeper connection. Arvind had initially come across Renu’s profile on Facebook (now META), which led to deeper conversations on social media before they met in person.

Their bond gradually evolved into love, and despite opposition from her family, Renu decided to marry Arvind. Her family had arranged her marriage with a government school teacher, and the wedding was scheduled for the following month. “He asked me what I wanted. I said, nothing, just you,” Renu said, describing her choice. The couple later tied the knot in Delhi without informing her family.

How Did Netizens React to the Story?

The viral video sparked a wave of reactions online. While many netizens praised Renu’s courage and celebrated the couple’s love story, others questioned the girl’s decision to reject financial security for an uncertain future.

“There will be nothing left except regrets after marriage on social media. Government employees will get more but these cheap type of people get it only on social media and then cry,” wrote one user.
