Television actress Rupali Ganguly celebrates her 48th birthday today, April 5. While her industry friends and family members have been penning sweet messages for her, her stepdaughter Esha Verma also extended a wish, but her shocking birthday post grabbed eyeballs as she called Rupali a ‘villain.’ The drama unfolded after Esha, daughter of Rupali’s husband Ashwin Verma and his former wife, accused the actress of threatening her and being the reason behind her parents’ broken marriage.
Esha took to her Instagram story and shared a photo of Disney’s Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, holding a balloon, with Snow White seen faintly in the background. The image was captioned with the words, “Cheers to the antagonist of the story.” Adding to the post, Esha wrote, “One last birthday post for today… Some birthdays deserve a toast – even if it’s to the villain.” Although she didn’t mention Rupali’s name, the cryptic message raised eyebrows. The story was deleted just minutes later.

In 2024, Rupali issued a defamation notice of Rs 50 crore to Esha, stating that the latter’s statements had damaged her reputation and affected her career.
The notice revealed that Ganguly intended to maintain a “dignified silence” but was compelled to act after her and husband Ashwin Verma’s 11-year-old son was brought into the matter.
Post the defamation notice, Esha announced on social media that she would not address the fiasco with Rupali anymore as she has decided to move on with her life and made her Instagram account private. However, she has one again made Instagram public once again.
On the work front, Rupali is currently seen in the television serial Anupamaa.
