Mumbai Police have arrested a man for setting fire to a woman’s home and threatening her life following an argument in the Gorai area.
The accused, identified as Vishal Udmale, was taken into custody after allegedly pouring petrol on the door of Lakshmi Prabhakar’s residence and setting it ablaze. According to police, the incident occurred after Udmale and Prabhakar became involved in a heated dispute.
Police officials stated that Udmale also issued explicit death threats to Prabhakar during the confrontation, escalating what began as a verbal altercation into a serious criminal offense.
The Mumbai Police have registered a case against Udmale under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 79, 351(2), 115(2), 326(g), and 131. These charges encompass serious offenses related to insulting the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt, and arson.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details about the nature of the relationship between Udmale and Prabhakar or what sparked the initial argument that led to this violent incident. Police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
