Keeping in mind the increasing number of road accidents in India, the government has taken an important step. Now it has been made mandatory to give 2 ISI certified helmets with the purchase of each new two -wheeler. This new policy was announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at an auto summit held in New Delhi recently. Its main objective is not only to ensure the safety of the bike rider, but also to ensure the safety of the rider and the culture of wearing helmets.

Road safety will get new direction

The two-wheeler Helmet Manufacturers Association (THMA) has welcomed the decision. The organization believes that this rule can save the lives of thousands of people. THMA President Rajiv Kapoor described it as an important step towards security and said that this would take seriously the need for helmets in the country.

Dreaded figures, strict action needed

India has the highest number of road accidents in the world. Every year there are about 5 lakh road accidents, in which more than 1.9 lakh people are killed. The most affected by these accidents are young people between the ages of 18 and 45, who are a large part of the working population of the country. If we talk about two -wheelers, the figures are even more worrisome. Every year about 69,000 bike riders die, out of which about half of the people lose their lives due to not wearing helmets. Keeping this serious situation in mind, the government has implemented this rule so that wearing helmets becomes not just the rules but a habit.

Helmets are now available cheap and easily.

After this decision of the government, ThMA has also decided to increase its production capacity so that people can get cheap and good quality helmets. People will no longer be forced to buy local and unsafe tested helmets; Instead, they will get two excellent and sanctioned helmets with their bikes.

Another big step towards road safety in India

This decision is one of the many major steps being taken by the government for road safety. In early 2023, India NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) was launched, which performs a crash test of cars sold in the country and releases their safety ratings. Similarly, now the rule of making helmets mandatory is another strong step towards increasing the safety of two -wheeler drivers.
