Myanmar earthquake : On March 28, 2025, at 12:50 pm local time, two powerful earthquakes of 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude occurred in Myanmar. Many multi -storey buildings collapsed in this earthquake and many other houses were also badly damaged. In this situation, the water of the swimming pool also got up like the sea waves. The frightened residents escaped on the streets. The prestigious Awa Bridge in Mandalay, Myanmar also fell into the Iravadi River. The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of ten kilometers north-west 16 km from the city of Sagiing. The tremors of this earthquake were felt from Bangkok, Thailand to India.

Myanmar’s underground cause ‘bounce’

Myanmar’s geographical location is such that there is ‘defect’ in her underground land. Its name is ‘Sagiing Fault’. The ‘union’ of the Indian plate and the Burma microplate occurs under the Myanmar subduction area. When both plates, which are experiencing infinite pressure, rub against each other, a constant ‘stress’ arises. Scientists have found that the two terrain are moving at the rate of about 11 millimeters to 18 millimeters per year. When the pressure between plates pushing each other over the years becomes unbearable, it comes out as an earthquake. For this reason Myanmar is considered sensitive to earthquake. The length of this corruption in Myanmar is about 1,200 kilometers.

Sagiing fault has also shown signs of weakness earlier.

Many earthquakes have occurred in the past due to the tender fault. In 1946, there was a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in which 610 people were killed. Earlier, estimated the 1931 earthquake lost 500 people. Earthquakes also occurred here in 1956, 1991 and 2012, but the number of casualties was relatively low.

Other countries also suffer from continuous earthquakes.

The more tectonic plates below the surface of a country, the greater the risk of earthquake in that country. Japan, China and Indonesia are three countries that are considered the most sensitive to earthquakes. Apart from this, the sword of earthquake is also permanently hanging on the heads of Turkey, Philippines, Iran, Mexico, Italy, America, Ecuador, Nepal, Peru, Chile, Pakistan and India. Most earthquakes in our country include Himalayas, Ganga grounds and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
