Gomtinagar railway station located in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is no longer like any common railway station. After a long wait of six years, this station has been prepared as a grand, world -class railway port and its inauguration work is going to start soon. Rejuvenation of Gomtinagar station: Halt to world class port
Till a few years ago, this station was a small halt of only two passenger trains. But now it has a total of five platforms and a sixth platform has also been formed towards Vibhutikhand. This change is not normal, but historical. The then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid the foundation for making Gomtinagar Halt a station and today it is going to become the first world class station in Uttar Pradesh.
Hightech station built at a cost of 385 crores
The project, built by Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), was approved on 21 May 2018. The station has been rejuvenated at a cost of about Rs 385 crore. This station is spread over a huge area of 10 acres and its texture and facilities compete with any international airport.
Two terminals, escalators and lifts
The north -direction terminal building in Gomtinagar station is two -storey and south -direction terminal building is one storey. Also, 14 lifts and 13 escalators have been installed here for the convenience of passengers. The special thing is that the station building will be illuminated with solar energy, which will also make it a green station.
Air Concourse and Great Passenger Facilities
Here a large air cochorce has been built for passengers, which is 28 meters in length and 85 meters in width. Along with this, the station will have state-of-the-art waiting room, cafeteria, lounge and other passenger facilities, which will make the journey even more comfortable.
Shopping and confluence of facilities: Build Commercial blocks
The station has been developed not only a travel hub, but also as a commercial center. The RLDA has built two commercial blocks towards Vibhutikhand, which have been constructed from the income given on lease. These blocks are four storeys and have 12 lifts and 8 escalators.
About 29,000 square meters double basement parking has also been provided here, which will not cause parking problems. Shopping, restaurants, cafes and office spaces will also be available in these parts of the station – that is, a full mall experience in a station itself.
PM Modi can inaugurate
Although Gomtinagar station is not included in the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’, according to sources, the railway stations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon inaugurate, Gomtinagar station will also be included. This means that soon this grand railway station will be handed over to the public.
