Lakme Fashion Week 2025 is back with its 25th edition, and it’s bigger, bolder, and more glamorous than ever! The fashion extravaganza, held in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), kicked off on March 26 at Mumbai’s iconic Jio World Convention Centre. With a dazzling array of couture collections and a front row packed with celebrities, the event is delivering unforgettable runway moments and redefining style with every passing day.

Headlining the runway on day two (March 27) were Nushrratt Bharuccha, Karisma Kapoor, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Leander Paes. Here’s a recap and highlights of the second day of the couture show:

NIF Global presents GenNext: Abhichiq, That Antiquepiece, Quarter at LFW 2025

Day two of Lakme Fashion Week 2025 opened with the GenNext show, presented by NIF Global, showcasing three innovative designers. Abhishek Shinde showcased his menswear collection ‘Ciao’ for his label ‘Abhichiq,’ inspired by Sicily’s sunny charm and offered timeless artisanal classics.

On the other hand, Yash Patil’s label ‘That Antiquepiece’ drew from archival photographs of Nepal’s Rana queens (1870–1950), featuring intricately embellished creations.

Lastly, Somya Lochan’s label ‘Quarter’ explored grief and loss through ‘The Dichotomy of Loss,’ a collection inspired by an experiment where five individuals expressed their emotions by cutting garments, leading to raw, expressive designs for the season.

Nushrratt Bharuccha turned showstopper for NIF Global ‘THE RUNWAY’, commanding the show with a chic ensemble that took high-street fashion to another level. The actress styled a daring yet polished look, featuring a structured grey corset perfectly paired with stylish black wide-leg pants and a blazer.

EKA presented their Spring Summer 25, Amer-Rite of Spring collection at the Lakme Fashion Week 2025. The collection, inspired by the beauty of Amer Fort, featured comfortable creations with vibrant, pastel hues and flowing silhouettes.

Prosenjit Chatterjee and Leander Paes brought star power to the runway as they walked for The Boy’s Club by Anurag Gupta LineTribe_ Roy_Calcutta at Lakme Fashion Week 2025.

Prosenjit stunned in a regal black velvet sherwani jacket featuring a sophisticated bandhgala neckline, intricate zardozi detailing along the borders, and delicate gold embroidery.

Leander Paes, meanwhile, opted for a white kurta with intricate gold embroidery. He elevated the look by pairing it with a deep purple velvet shawl and pleated dhoti pants, exuding grace and contemporary flair. Together, the duo captivated the audience, adding charisma and poise to the designer’s luxurious collection.

Karisma Kapoor steals the show in monochrome saree

Karisma Kapoor turned showstopper for Satya Paul’s ‘Alchemy’ collection, commanding the runway in a striking black-and-white sequin saree. Adding an edgy touch to the classic drape, she paired it with a full-sleeved, black-and-white striped shirt that stood in place of a typical blouse. The actress further elevated her look with a sleek black belt, creating a structured, chic look.

R|Elan’s sustainable showcase

Continuing its commitment to promoting sustainability, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its next-gen fabric brand R|Elan, in partnership with the United Nations (UN) in India, presented the winning showcase of the R|Elan Circular Design Challenge (CDC) 2024 at the fashion event. The showcase, titled ‘Reclaim The City’ by rkive city, highlighted innovative, eco-friendly fashion and sustainable design practices.

Khadi India showcases exquisite couture collection

The timeless charm of Khadi took centre stage at the Khadi India show during Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI, as five renowned designers reimagined the fabric with vibrant, contemporary twists.

Designers Karishma Shahani Khan, Nikasha, Niki Mahajan, and CoEk-Khadi India showcased sharply constructed, colourful silhouettes, blending tradition with modern aesthetics.

Popular TV star Shalin Bhanot added star appeal by walking the ramp for Niki Mahajan’s collection.
