‘Only God Can Save Someone From Cooperative Officials,’ Says MP CM Mohan Yadav |
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has ticked off the officials of the cooperative department. Yadav was speaking at a state cooperative conference on the occasion of International Year of Cooperatives on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister related a story about the callous attitude of the officials of the cooperative department to the audience. The story was connected with him. In 1992, he wanted to build houses for the residents of Ujjain by setting up a cooperative federation, Yadav said.
At the outset, the officials of the cooperative department told registration had been closed. In reply to the information given to him, Yadav said, “Since the society was being set up, there should not be any reason for closure of registration.”
Yadav then told the officials to forward the papers, and he would take care of the rest of the things in Bhopal. Nevertheless, it took a long time to complete the paper work, Yadav said. But the story did not stop there, the Chief Minister said, adding that when he completed one set of papers, they demanded another.
On his face, the officials said everything had been alright, but had sent letters seeking more documents, the Chief Minister said. The file, somehow, reached Bhopal, but he had to face the similar problems at Vallabh Bhawan where the officials demanded fresh documents.
Yadav said then he was in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and Saligram Tomar was its organisational secretary. Yadav said when he narrated his woes to Tomar he spoke the then minister Laxminarayan Sharma. On the basis of the minister’s recommendations, when he met an officer he wanted only two documents to complete the work, Yadav said.
After a few days, he again received letter seeking more documents, Yadav said. When he again narrated his tale of owes to Tomar, he took him to the minister who pulled up the officer over the phone, and that worked. He got the registration papers in the evening on the same day, Yadav said.
Taking a jibe at the officials of the cooperative department, the Chief Minister said, “If you wish to harass someone, set up an inquiry in the cooperative department and make him a member of it.” How to keep someone out of inquiry is known to the officials of the cooperative department, other than God, Yadav said. Only God can save someone from them, Yadav said, adding that major changes are taking place in the cooperative department under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
